Commission custom Khayamia textile work
A panel made to your exact dimensions, colour palette, and chosen motif — worked by one of the tentmakers we represent, in the same hand-stitched appliqué tradition, at the same pace.
What a Commission Involves
Every Khayamia commission starts with a conversation. Tell us the room the piece is for, the colours already in it, and whether you want something geometric and formal, floral and domestic, figurative and narrative, or calligraphic. We will match you with the right maker for the work — not all tentmakers have the same strengths, and a commission benefits from that specificity.
The maker will return a paper sketch for your approval before cutting begins. This sketch shows the composition, the motif layout, and the proposed palette. You can request revisions at this stage; once cutting starts, changes are costly. The sketch approval is your moment to be certain.
Custom work takes between four and twelve weeks depending on size and complexity. Pricing is based on the estimated hours of work, which the maker calculates and communicates before you commit. There are no surprises after the deposit.
Dimensions and Motifs
The tentmakers we work with accept commissions for panels ranging from 30 × 30 centimetres to three metres wide. Very large pieces — above 200 cm in any dimension — are worked by two people simultaneously on a frame and carry a corresponding premium.
The four main motif families are all available: geometric (interlocking stars, rosettes, hexagons), floral (arabesque vine, lotus, carnation), figurative (pharaonic friezes, Nubian scenes, the Nile), and calligraphic. Hybrid compositions — a geometric border around a figurative cartouche, for example — are standard practice.

I want to know the room. If you tell me the room, I can make the piece. The geometry follows from the space; the colour follows from the light.

Terms and Shipping
Once the design sketch is approved, we take a 50% deposit. The balance is due when the piece is complete and you have approved a final photograph of the finished work before it is packed.
We provide progress photographs at the midpoint — typically when the central motif is complete and the border work is beginning. You can request additional updates at any stage.
Commissioned pieces ship in a custom archival tube with acid-free tissue wrapping and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the maker. Full insurance is included on all commissions. Shipping typically takes five to ten business days to Europe and North America via DHL.
